Guide 1 Organization Objectives

This guide’s quiz has four questions; one matching each objective.

Quiz Directions

Complete all four sections and take the quiz on Canvas.

Use the learning objectives above to guide your studying.

Guide 1 Journal Assignment #1

Introduced in the Course Overview section of this guide:

Journal Page #1: Notes

In all four sections (webpages) of this Organization Guide, you will be taking notes on the concepts that are covered.  At the end of the guide, you will upload these notes to Canvas as one of this guide’s two journal assignments.

You can take notes digitally on a device or on a piece of paper that you digitally photograph and upload: your choice.  You may have more than one page; take thorough notes because you can use these on the quiz.

We have provided PDF templates of the journal pages on Canvas if you have access to a printer.  You do not need to use these; many people like to make their own pages, but also like to see what ours look like.

Include in your notes:

  • concepts from all four sections (web pages) in this guide.

  • a combination of text, images, and icons.  Your notes may be mostly text, but some type of image and use of icons needs to be included.

Guide 1 Journal Assignment #2

Introduced in the Integumentary System section of this guide:

Journal Page #2: First Aid Training

First aid is assistance you give to an injured or sick person until full medical treatment is available. For this journal page you are selecting first aid training (new or a refresher course) that you plan on getting at some point in the future.

This could be first aid related to the integumentary or any other organ system.  For example, you may be interested in first aid for children if you babysit or CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) if you know someone with heart disease.

Your first aid training selection could be a course offered in your community, a web-based online course, a book/model series to purchase, or other form designed by medical professionals.

You do not have to complete the training for this assignment, but we hope you do at some point soon, as a form of continuing education.

You are turning in:

A.  what the training is that you selected,

B. where you can get this training.  Be specific.  Is it a community-based course, offered at a particular website, a set of books, etc.?

C.  why you chose this particular form of first aid training.

Choose a professional first aid training, for example a course offered by a local medical center.  Here are a few online options:

Ideas from CDC (Centers for Disease Control).  https://emergency.cdc.gov/training/index.asp

Journal Page Directions

To be completed after taking the quiz on Canvas.

Upload your two journal pages to Canvas.  If the files are really large, it may help to host them on a webpage and submit the web link to reduce upload time.

All three assignments are due by Friday 11:59 p.m. P.T.  Once you have taken the quiz on Canvas and uploaded your two journal pages, you have completed this guide.
