Guide 3 Intake Objectives

This guide’s quiz has four questions; one matching each objective.

Digestive System

List the basic digestive functions, including the path food takes from ingestion through processing to egestion as fecal material; describe the structures and functions of the upper G.I.T. organs; and describe the structures and functions of the lower G.I.T. organs.


Digestive Disorders

Describe upper G.I.T. disorders, including GERD and gastritis; list and describe various lower G.I.T. disorders; and provide examples of nutrient deficiencies and explain how a person can be “hypernourished” and “malnourished” at the same time.


Respiratory System

Describe cellular respiration, including where it occurs in cells and how it contrasts with systemic respiration; list the organs gases pass through when you breath in and out, including the pharynx, larynx, trachea, and lungs; and outline the functions of lung structures, including the bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli.


Respiratory Disorders

Describe pneumonia and COPDs, including chronic bronchitis, asthma, and emphysema; list and describe diseases that may result from smoking cigarettes; and explain the breathing process including muscle movement, lung capacity, and the impacts of aerobic exercise.
