Guide 3 Journal Assignment #5

Introduced in the Digestive System section of this guide:

Journal Page #5: Digestion Game

You are creating a game to teach about the digestive system.  You can be specific, like teaching about one digestive disorder, or more general, like teaching about digestive organs or the digestive process.  The game needs to engage the potential learner by being both educational and entertaining.

Include:

  1. The title of your game.
  2. The approximate age level you intend the game for (children, adults, all).
  3. Your game, with basic directions, if needed.  The media can be a photo, text, video, web link, etc.
  4. Clear and correct concepts about some aspect of the digestive system.

Teaching someone else is one of the best ways to learn about a topic.  Select something that interests you, and have fun with the learning process.

Guide 3 Journal Assignment #6

Introduced in the Respiratory System section of this guide:

Journal Page #6: Body Data

We are continually monitoring our body parameters.  For example we change behaviors when we get hot or cold, eat when we are hungry, or go to sleep when tired.  However, we typically do not collect body data in a consistent manner unless we are managing a disease or engaged in a dietary or exercise program.

For this journal page you are collecting two forms of body data at three points in a single day.  For example, you could monitor heart rate and respiration rate at 9 a.m. 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

You get to choose the form of data.  Easy to collect data includes:

  • breathing rate (respirations/breaths) per minute.
  • heart rate (beats per minute)
  • body temperature
  • urination frequency
  • thirst (feeling of thirst)

Note: Use sense and care whenever collecting body data.  If unsure about techniques or how to interpret results, seek professional assistance as needed.

You are turning in:

  • Your body data which includes two different types of data collected at three different times in a single day.
  • Your interpretation of the data, including what you found and what you think it means.  If you see a relationship between the two forms of body data collection, include that as well.

Journal Page Directions

To be completed after taking the quiz on Canvas.

Upload your two journal pages to Canvas.  If the files are really large, it may help to host them on a webpage and submit the web link to reduce upload time.

All three assignments are due by Friday 11:59 p.m. P.T.  Once you have taken the quiz on Canvas and uploaded your two journal pages, you have completed this guide.
